Myrtle
Beach South Carolina stretches 60 miles from the North Carolina
border southward to Pawleys Island, and virtually all of it
has public access. The ocean has a moderating effect on the
weather along the coast. Often you will see the weather in the
Myrtle Beach area 10 degrees cooler in the summer and 10 degrees
warmer in the Winter than the temperature only 15 miles inland.
Besides the luxurious Myrtle Beach hotels, the area is one of
the world's great golfing destinations featuring over 100 public
golf courses.
The
Myrtle Beach area is served by several airports, Myrtle Beach
International for commercial service, and Grand Stand, Georgetown
and Ocean Isle for general aviation. Amtrak train service is
provided to Florence, approximately 80 miles away. The major
highways providing access to the Myrtle Beach area include I-95
and I-20 which feed into US 17, US 501 and SC 9, which provided
direct routes to the beach. One of the special treats for visitors
tothe area is Bookgreen Gardens, one of the largest outdoor
sculpture displays in the world. Begun by the Huntingdon family,
Bookgreen Gardens has acres of land on which you can explore
and see some of the finest artwork anywhere. |
